Specialty shrink wrap is also available, such as our Volatile Corrosion Inhibiting material. Volatile Corrosion Inhibiting (VCI) shrink wrap contains additives that will prevent corrosion on metal components and electrical connections, for periods up to 2 years. While protecting both ferrous and non-ferrous metals, Volatile Corrosion Inhibiting shrink wrap will not harm glass, plastic, or other parts of assemblies. VCI shrink wrap comes in 20′ x 100′ 6 or 7-mil in white, or our new 32′ x 100′ 8 mil in gray.

| The Dr. Shrink Strapping Advantage When preparing to shrink wrap do not underestimate the importance of your installation accessories. Dr. Shrink’s Woven Cord Strapping is an irreplaceable component to a shrink wrap system. It is not only responsible for maintaining the tension of your perimeter band but it is also the backbone of your weight bearing support structure as pictured above. Using a strapping system to create a support structure is a crucial part of the shrink wrap process when storing boats outside for long term storage. A support structure gives the shrink wrap cover enough slope so rain, snow, ice, etc. will run off and not pile up. It is particularly important to have the support structure extremely tight and secure so you will avoid chafing and abrasion against the object. Dr. Shrink’s Woven Cord Strapping is the best choice for creating a durable support structure. Our strapping comes in both ½ and ¾ inch widths and depending on the width has between a 750-1,000 lb break strength. Our Strapping Dispenser fits all sizes of strapping that we carry. The strapping used in conjunction with our End and Bottom Caps and buckles (along with a couple 2×4 support boards) will give you a tight, secure, weight bearing support structure. Check out our Super Cap designed for heavy snow load. For more instruction on how to create a support structure please visit the training section of our website. If you are wrapping an object that has no need for a support structure, strapping is still used as a perimeter band. A perimeter band is essential for objects you shrink wrap because it holds the cover from rising upward when being shrunk. About six inches of excess shrink wrap is pulled up and over the perimeter band and the two shrink wrap pieces are then heat welded together. The tighter the perimeter band is, the less the cover will move, so it is very important to use our Strap Tension Tool, buckles, and woven cord strapping in conjunction with one another as a complete “strapping system.” |

Dr. Shrink, Inc.’s founder/CEO/President, Mike Stenberg, recently traveled both for fun and for a cause. Mike and his son, Bart Stenberg (General Manager of Dr. Shrink, Inc.) flew to Las Vegas, Nevada where they purchased a 1990 Ford LTD Crown Victoria Country Squire Wagon. Mike said the Ford Country Squire station wagon was for a 40 year period one of the best vehicles for carrying the family on daily trips and for summer vacations taken across the USA. He was happy to have found this particular Squire wagon that is totally original and only had 11,534 miles on it when they picked it up.
The cross-country trip home from Nevada to Michigan in their new ride became a viral sensation when it was announced via video on Dr. Shrink’s Facebook page that Mike was “Road-Trippin’ for a Reason” and all “likes”, comments, or shares on the video or photos would be tallied and go towards a monetary donation to Homeward Bound (a local animal shelter in Manistee, MI). The video and photos immediately went viral; the video reached close to 5,000 people, had 99 shares, and 169 “likes”. The photo album had 22 shares and 76 likes.
Mike states, “Our road trip from Las Vegas to Manistee in the 1990 Ford Country Squire was a great time—even when driving through a very long Oklahoma during the middle of the night. Highlights of the journey were the beautiful high deserts of Arizona and New Mexico, Petrified Forest National Park where they had the best fry bread tacos ever, and then when we crossed the border into Michigan signaling only 195 miles more to go.”
Mike has a soft spot and big heart for all animals and pets are family at Dr. Shrink, Inc. Mike states, “It was fun and rewarding to log our travels on Facebook and see the response towards a great cause. I want to say thank you to everyone who followed us on Facebook and helped make this a very Merry Christmas for our furry friends at Homeward Bound in Manistee, MI.”
The Facebook travel log response ended up raising $450.00 which was donated by Dr. Shrink to Homeward Bound of Manistee, MI. As for the Ford Country Squire station wagon? Mike states, “I expect to keep it in the collection for many years.”
Deb Green, Vice President from the Manistee County Humane Society states, “Homeward Bound greatly appreciates the fact that Dr. Shrink thought of us when they decided to do this. It is because of this kind of community support that we are able to help so many homeless pets find new homes.”
Shown in the photo are two of the pups currently waiting to be adopted at Homeward Bound Animal Shelter. Bean is on the right, a Beagle Dachshund mix and Brody is on the left, a tri-colored Corgi. They are a bonded pair who have been together 6 years and are hoping to be adopted together. Bean is currently neutered; Brody will be neutered before adoption. Both dogs are up to date on their shots.
