How to Properly Repair Holes in Your Shrink Wrap Cover

TRICK – Repairing holes in your shrink wrap cover is very easy, whether big or small.
– If it’s a small hole, (4″ in diameter or less), follow these easy steps for repair:
1.) Using one of our premium tapes, completely cover the hole. Make sure the tape completely adheres to the shrink wrap cover on all sides, being sure there are no air bubbles. Dr. Shrink stocks tape up to 6″ wide.
2.) Lightly warm the tape with your heat tool to activate the adhesives. Again, making sure to smooth out any air bubbles.
– If t’s a large hole:
1.) Obtain a piece of shrink wrap that will completely cover the hole.
2.) Trim the edges square so that the patch is at least 2″ larges than the hole.
3.) Tape around the complete perimeter of the patch. 3″ or 4″ wide tape is recommended.
4.) Quickly run your heat tool over the patch, being careful to shrink the material without burning the tape.
5.) Once the material cools, the patch house be wrinkle free and as durable as the remainder of the cover.
*Tape should be cut with one of Dr. Shrink’s Film Knives to ensure smooth, non jagged edges.

How to Install the Zipper Access Doors and Prevent Them from Leaking

Dr. Shrink’s Zipper Access Doors are tape on the finished cover to allow access into a shrink wrapped object without compromising the durability of the cover.
TRICK – To install our Zipper Access Doors, just follow these simple steps:
1.) A small piece of tape should be placed on each corner to position the door, then tape applied around the entire perimeter. You must tape all 4 sides of the door to the shrink wrap cover. Press and seal the tape to the cover. *It’s important to use Heat Shrink Tape for the best adhesion.
2.) The doors are installed after the shrink wrap has already been heated. They should be installed where there is easy access into the object and on a vertical surface.
3.) Doors should like a big “U” with the curve at the bottom. Make sure to rub out all the air bubbles and to use the Dr. Shrink Film Knife, so your cuts on the end of the tape are clean.
4.) Once the door is taped on, unzip the door and cut out the hole to access the inside of your object.

How to Install the Weather Tight Self-Adhesive Vent Properly and How to Prevent Leaking

Venting your shrink wrapped object is a simple and easy way to allow airflow under your shrink wrap cover. It reduces moisture buildup without compromising the covers integrity.
The main problem with vents is not having an adequate seal between the vent and the shrink wrap.
TRICK – To install our Weather Tight Self-Adhesive Vent properly and how to prevent from leaking, you just have to follow these simple steps:
1.) Take off the adhesive backing and stick onto the cover.
2.) Pop the cover off of the vent, then cut and remove the shrink wrap from the exposed window.
3.) Grab inside the vent and press firmly around all edges to make sure the vent fully adheres to the shrink wrap. It has a raised lip so it does not allow any leaking into the opening. If there is any gaps between the vent and the shrink wrap, that’s where the leaking will occur.
4.) Pop the top back on and you’re good to go.

Viking Cylinders® Lightweight Composite Propane Tanks are designed to replace those heavy propane cylinders. They are 50% lighter than steel tanks and come with a comfortable, ergonomic handle that allows for easy stacking and carrying. The outer walls are translucent, allowing you to see exactly how much propane is left in the tank. Each cylinder has a wide, stable base that prevents it from tipping over.

Unlike steel and aluminum tanks, Viking Cylinders® will not BELVE in a fire. BELVE is the technical abbreviation for Boiling Liquid Expanding Vapor Explosion. In layman’s terms, the cylinder will not explode in a fire. Instead, the resin will burn off, the plastic liner/casing will melt, and the LPG will “breathe” through the cylinder wall, while burning in a controlled manner.

Halloween is right around the corner, so let’s have a little fun! Dr. Shrink is having a pumpkin carving contest! The theme? All things Dr. Shrink.
All you have to do is carve your pumpkin with out logo, a heat tool, vent, roll of tape, etc. – anything you can think of when it comes to Dr. Shrink. Once you’ve carved your pumpkin, take a picture and post it to our Facebook page.
On Thursday, October 27th a winner will be chosen. The lucky winner will receive a $50 Amazon gift card.
